Written originally for the now mostly forgotten operating system CP/M 2, it was very soon ported to the IBM PC with the then new operating system MS-DOS. It was available from 1983 through to 1993 bearing version numbers from 1.0 up to 7.0 for MS-DOS and 1.0, 1.5 and 7.0 for Windows, until it was eventually replaced by a product named Delphi. Turbo Pascal is a compiler or rather an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for the programming language Pascal, designed by the Danish programmer Anders Hejlsberg 1 and produced and distributed by Borland International, Inc.
